Natural scrubber for your natural home! This whimsical Natural Loofah Scrubber is a wonderful alternative to synthetic scrubbers, drying out much better and harbouring no odours.
Did you know the Loofah is actually a vegetable in the cucumber family?
It's made from the inner fibers of a gourd-like plant, when dried that form what we know as a loofah sponge.
The Loofah used in this scrubber is naturally grown and processed in Paraguay. It is the first loofah in the world to be certified USDA organic. Because of it's longer and finer textured fibers, natural loofah sponge is one of the softest and most resilient natural sponges you can find.
Natural Loofah Scrubber is gentle enough to scrub fruits and vegetables, tough enough to clean dirty dishes and stubborn pots and pans; plus, thanks to its non-scratch fibers, is safe enough to use on woods, glass, plastics, gel coats, vinyl, canvas, rubber, aluminum, stainless steel, copper, brass, counter-stove tops, appliances, microwave ovens, cooled down grills, and all delicate nonstick surfaces, also that favorite "seasoned" cast iron pot or frying pan. But that's not all: loofah is great for both the kitchen and personal care.
In the bathroom, Natural Loofah Scrubber exfoliates and encourages new cell growth. Just rinse, squeeze and hang to air dry to maintain freshness.
Hand fabricated from a sustainable agricultural crop with 100% natural loofah, natural dye coloring (please rinse before using), non-toxic and biodegradable, Natural Loofah Scrubber is the perfect Eco-friendly gift. From penguins to ladybugs, the functional and cute Natural Loofah Scrubber will delight your children and motivate them to help you clean in the kitchen or practice good hygiene in the bathroom and will make great party favors.
Loofah S.A. brings more contributions to the environment, because now for each product sold, a tree will be planted in every place of Paraguay that urgently needs to be reforested.

| Notes | The History of Loofah in Paraguay Loofah is a natural sponge originating in Asia. However, it has been a product of South American agriculture for several decades. In the old days the Loofahsponge was present in the households of every peasant and was considered the "poor man's kitchen and bath sponge". Loofah from Paraguay has a fine texture and resists wear because the fibers are softer and closer together than loofah from other parts of the world. Today, the Loofah planted by the NGO's OIPIC & Madre Tierra are the first and only Loofah's that are certified to be organically grown. During the development of the Loofah Sponge Project, initially developed by the NGO OIPIC, and now with the support of NGO Madre Tierra, funding where received from ECOFUND of The Nature Conservancy, and recently also from the IDB Bank. Training courses to "The Cultivation of Loofah Sponges" The NGO's OIPIC and Madre Tierra has been training by know over 11.000 individuals, Farmers and Indians, to cultivate the Loofah Sponges in a Organically and Natural way, and teaching them how to produce first quality raw material used for the products made by Loofah S.A. The Courses are made each year between the months of may to august. Manufacturing Loofah is derived from a gourd-like plant which requires annual replanting. Once the plant naturally dries on the vine, it is harvested and the outer skin peeled off to expose the inner fibres which form the natural loofah sponge. The loofah is then hand seeded, washed and left in the sun to dry naturally after which it is hand fabricated into whimsical and functional products. Social Impact The Cultivation of Loofah Sponge's already is helping to support more than 11.000 families of campesinos (farmers) and Indians. They have been trained to organically grow and process these sponges. Loofah Sponge's can bring up to 50 times more income than traditional cotton and grain harvesting for the cultivators. The incomes from the Loofah Sponge's Organic Plantation already brought enough funds for the communities to build schools and provide much needed medical care, and decent living conditions. The Products produced by Loofah S.A. are made in the fabricating facility in Paraguay, that employs local women who hand-process, sew and finish the products and package them for shipment. Environmental Impact The organically cultivation and grow method used for the Loofah Sponges planted by the Farmers and Indians in Paraguay, under the supervision of the NGO's OIPIC " Madre Tierra, ensure a much cleaner environment, free of pesticides and helping the soil to recover again. So at the end they can also bring a much better row material for the products. Loofah S.A. brings more contributions to the environment, because now for each product sold, Loofah S.A. (together with the NGO's OIPIC & Madre Tierra) will plant a tree in every place of Paraguay that urgently needs to be reforested. |
